Empowering female led businesses making an impact globally.
Approximately one-third of the world's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are women-owned. However, only about 15% of these women-owned SMEs engage in exporting activities.
The Female Collective is an initiative dedicated to empowering female entrepreneurs and SME’s in the food, beverage, health, and wellbeing industries to expand their businesses domestically and internationally. By offering an, "all-in-one marketplace" approach.
Why a platform like this is great for female led businesses.
Joining The Female Collective is a transformative opportunity for female-led businesses. With The Global Collective in your corner, you gain access to a supportive network that understands the challenges and barriers associated with expanding into new markets. Being part of a female-founded company means benefitting from shared experiences and insights tailored to help navigate the complexities of international trade, and expansion. The focus on empowering female exporters globally fosters an environment where collaboration leads to growth and innovation.
As someone who transitioned from a 20-year career in advertising(where female representation was less than a third), to launching an export business, I have experienced firsthand the importance of having a strong support system.
The Female Collective provides resources and tools that can help female entrepreneurs speak up, advocate for their needs, and connect with like-minded partners. This community is crucial for fostering confidence and resilience, enabling women to thrive in the export market and beyond.

Kate Williams — Championing Australian Wine Globally
I met Kate Williams when we were first establishing a presence in the Singapore market, and without the slightest hesitation she offered introductions to her network, in market knowledge and continued support. Something that we are to this day very grateful for.
There are women who build careers within an industry — and there are women who help shape where that industry goes next.
Kate Williams is firmly in the latter camp.
As Head of Asia for Australian Vintage Limited (AVL), Kate sits at the intersection of fine wine, brand building, commercial strategy and international growth.
-
Based in Singapore and working across one of the world’s most diverse and fast-moving regions, she is helping Australian wine brands find new audiences, new occasions and new opportunities across Asia and beyond.
For The Female Collective, we celebrate women who aren’t simply succeeding in their chosen industries, but who are actively changing them. Kate represents exactly that kind of leadership.
A career built from the ground up Kate’s career in wine has never been confined to one discipline.
Her journey began in hospitality in the UK, managing high-end country dining restaurants before moving into one of Britain’s most established names in wine, Averys Wine Merchants in Bristol. There, she developed her career through retail, events and sales, ultimately becoming Head of Sales. Her next chapter brought her to Asia as a brand ambassador for an Australian winery — a role that saw her travelling extensively throughout Southeast Asia, educating consumers and trade audiences through wine events and masterclasses.
That breadth of experience matters.
Kate understands wine not simply from the perspective of what is in the bottle, but from the perspective of the customer, the retailer, the distributor, the hospitality operator and the market.
It is a combination that has become increasingly important as the global wine industry changes.
From selling wine to building markets Kate joined Australian Vintage in 2020 and has progressed from Southeast Asia Sales Manager to Regional Manager Asia and now Head of Asia.
The progression reflects something we particularly admire about her career: growth has come through doing.
Building brands internationally requires far more than exporting a product into another country. It means understanding cultural nuances, routes to market, consumer behaviours, pricing, partnerships and retail environments — and then finding the story that makes a brand relevant locally.
Kate has become an important bridge between Australian wine and the rapidly evolving Asian consumer.
Most recently, that has included work behind innovative brands such as Poco Vino, whose Asian expansion has challenged traditional conventions around how, where and when consumers enjoy wine. In Hong Kong, the brand’s launch has combined major retail distribution with experiential marketing, influencer engagement and one of the city’s most recognisable icons — a fully branded Hong Kong tram.
In China, Australian Vintage has also been expanding newer propositions such as Lemsecco Spritz, supported by major retail listings and consumer activation.
It demonstrates a very modern approach to wine marketing: don’t just put a bottle on a shelf.
Build an occasion, create relevance and give people a reason to discover it.
Where commercial thinking meets marketing.
One of the qualities that makes Kate’s leadership particularly interesting is the connection she creates between brand and commercial growth.
In global markets, marketing cannot operate in isolation from sales. A brilliant campaign means little without distribution. Distribution alone means little without consumer demand.
Kate operates across both.
Redefining what leadership in wine looks like.
Wine is an industry steeped in history and tradition.
But its future requires leaders prepared to question convention.
New generations of consumers are drinking differently. Retail environments are changing.
Moderation is reshaping the category. Packaging, format, occasion and experience increasingly influence purchasing decisions alongside heritage and provenance.
For female leaders such as Kate, that evolution presents an opportunity not simply to participate in the industry, but to help redefine it.
Her leadership demonstrates that deep respect for wine and its traditions can comfortably coexist with innovation, bold marketing and commercial ambition.
It is also a reminder that there is no single pathway into leadership.
Global ambition. Local understanding.
Perhaps one of Kate’s greatest strengths is recognising that global growth is never truly global — it happens market by market, relationship by relationship and consumer by consumer.
Her work demonstrates the importance of taking international ambition and translating it into something locally meaningful.
It is a philosophy reflected in Australian Vintage’s own culture. Speaking about the company, Kate has highlighted the importance of values being demonstrated through the actual behaviour of leaders and employees, describing the organisation as supportive while remaining strongly results-driven.
That balance — people and performance, creativity and commerciality, heritage and innovation — also says a great deal about Kate’s own style of leadership.
Why Kate is part of The Female Collective.
At The Global Collective, The Female Collective was created to shine a light on women doing extraordinary things across food, beverage, hospitality, marketing, trade and international business.
Kate Williams represents what we want the platform to celebrate.
A woman leading in a global industry.
A marketer who understands that brands need commercial outcomes.
A wine professional who understands that tradition and innovation are not opposites.
And an international leader helping Australian brands confidently take their place on the world stage.
Kate Williams is one of those leaders — and exactly the kind of woman The Female Collective was created to champion.
